4 Day HSE First Aid at Work

A comprehensive four day course covering a wide range of first aid emergencies and how to deal with them, enabling participants to qualify to the level of First Aider for the workplace meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This course can be tailored to the requirements of specific work environments. On successful completion of the course and final assessment participants will be awarded a First Aid at Work certificate valid for 3 years.

Aims of the course

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

- Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
- Deal with an unconscious casualty
- Carry out resuscitation (CPR)
- Control bleeding and manage shock
- Deal with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Deal with a casualty suffering burns and scalds
- Manage eye injuries
- Deal with casualties overcome by fumes or suffering from poisoning
- Deal with a broad range of common injuries and illnesses until the arrival of medical care
- Maintain records
- Use and maintain first aid kits

Duration:

24 contact hours

Certification:

On successful completion of the course and final assessment participants will be awarded a First Aid at Work certificate approved for the purpose of the Health and Safety (first aid) regulations 1981, which is valid for three years.

2Day HSE First Aid at Work Refresher

A course for qualified First Aiders to refresh their practical skills and knowledge, leading to the renewal of their certificate for a further three years. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Aims of the course

At the end of the course students will be able to:

Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
Deal with an unconscious casualty
Carry out resuscitation (CPR)
Control bleeding and manage shock
Recognise and deal with a broad range of common injuries until the arrival of medical care
Be aware of any updates in practice or legislation
Maintain records
Use and maintain first aid kits

12 contact hours

Certification:

Appointed Persons First Aid

A twelve hour course which can be tailored to meet the needs of the work environment. This course is ideal for businesses needing to qualify staff to the level of Appointed Persons to take responsibility for a first aid emergency and the first aid box in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. This course is also recommended for those staff giving support to First Aiders in larger organisations. Continuous assessment of participants practical skills takes place throughout the course.

Carry out resuscitation on an unconscious casualty
Control bleeding and manage shock
Be able to recognise and deal with a wide range of common injuries until the arrival of medical care

On successful completion of the course participants will be awarded an Emergency First Aid certificate valid for 3 years.

Emergency Response First Aid

A 6 hour programme for individuals who wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures and attain a HSE recognised qualification in First Aid. This course is tailored to meet the requirements of your organisation. A minimum of 4 hours will be spent on the core syllabus with a further 2 hours spent on additional subjects.

Aims of the course

By the end of the course the First Aiders will be able to demonstrate the essential skills to deal with life threatening emergencies in the workplace. The course is evaluated by on going assessment during the course and doesn’t end with a written or practical test.

Paediatric First Aid

A 7 or 12 hour emergency first aid course designed to meet the needs of those involved in the care of babies and young children. This course is fully approved by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and National Childminding Association and satisfies the mandatory requirements for those undertaking Modern Apprenticeships in Early Years Care & Education.

Aims of the Course

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

Assess and prioritise a first aid incident
Deal with an unconscious child or baby
Carry out resuscitation on a child or baby
Control bleeding and manage shock
Recognise and deal with a wide range of common injuries and illnesses until the arrival of medical care
Course certification:

Continual assessment will take place throughout the course. On successful completion of the course participants will be awarded an Emergency First Aid For Child Carers certificate which is valid for 3 years.

Sports First Aid

This 6-hour course is an outstanding course for people who are working in sports related roles. This includes teachers of sport, coaches of football, tennis, cricket etc. The course satisfies HSE recommendations for Emergency Response First Aid.

It is also an ideal course for those regularly taking part in sport as a recreation.

Course participants will learn the skills needed to respond to an ill or injured athlete in a low stress positive environment.
